Leadership conference to inspire Airdrie students – DiscoverAirdrie.com
On Wednesday, Bert Church High School will be hosting one of the Horizons Leadership Conferences.
The district-wide conference, designed by the Canadian Student Leadership Association (CSLA), will be happening in 22 different locations across the country throughout the remainder of the school year.
Daphne Mohr, a Grade 12 student at Bert Church, helped organize and set up the conference to come to Airdrie.
“It is a great way to teach students about leadership and build our skills when it comes to leadership.”
According to the Horizons website, the conference is designed to provide all participants with motivation, inspiration and information to make their school a better place to live and learn.
“We have experience hosting leadership conferences. It’s just something that we like to do in our leadership classes, and with extracurricular leadership, we hosted a province-wide leadership conference last year, so it’s just a nice way for students to be able to learn about what it’s like to host a big event.”
Nadia Ladack and Levi Stanford will be the motivational keynote speakers at the 2025 Horizons conference. Mohr talked about what she hopes to get from the conference.
“when I’m able to listen to the speakers, I want to be able to develop my leadership skills, I also am excited to meet new people, because to me, that’s the best thing about a leadership conference, is being able to meet people from all over and connect and share ideas.”
Students from Airdrie, Rocky View County, and other surrounding schools in grades 7 through 12 are welcome to take part, Mohr explained.
“It’s a really good opportunity for students, and it’s cool that we get to do this to build community.”

The other Alberta locations for the event include La Crete, Fort McMurray and Olds.
